Locally grown peonies, fresh from Columbia, Missouri
Our new peony farm is underway!
Hidden down a gravel road on the southern edge of Columbia, Missouri, our new flower farm will be dedicated exclusively to growing stunning peonies, starting with twelve unique varieties - everything from gorgeous pinks, corals with big yellow centers, to the most fragrant whites, and everything in between, varying week to week, all expected to arrive this spring.
Peonies have a way of recalling the past, a scent tied to memory, and marveling at blossoms as big as dinner plates. In my family, my mom always grew irises. They reminded her of her grandma Annie May Marsh Scarlett. When I told my mom I was starting a peony farm, she said, “Your great grandma Scarlett and her sisters grew rows and rows of peonies and irises. I have a picture somewhere!” There she is on the left, holding hot pink peonies on her Colorado farm.
Great Grandma Scarlett and her sisters
I’ve talked to so many people who were lucky enough to have their grandma’s peony roots, transplanted to their own gardens. Since peonies have been known to thrive for centuries, they’re more than just flowers - they’re a lasting legacy of beauty.
What we do
Peonies! In our first season, we are offering a very limited number of mason jar bouquets and little bud vases. As our crop matures, we’ll offer more subscriptions, retail and wholesale options, and eventually U-pick experiences!
But for now, we’ll try to patiently wait for our flowers to mature, so we have more to share in the future!
Also we’ll be working on a sweet little flower stand on Old Plank Road, for weekly available peonies and order pickups in the years to come.
